2009 Contest Season Preparation Progress
I forgot to post a photo last week, so I'm posting 11 weeks and 10 weeks out.
Last week, I weighed in at 175 and about 8.5% bodyfat. This week I hit 173 on the scale, but I didn't have my body comp done, so I'm not sure where I am. I should be about 7-7.5% based on weight and what I'm seeing in the mirror, but, due to water weight and what muscle group I trained that day, looks can always be deceiving. Two pounds per week is a good guideline for contest prep, as losing weight too quickly leads to loss of muscle mass as well.
From experience I know that I lose bodyfat from the top down, so I know I'm on track, I can definitely notice it in my face, and the veins are beginning to show in my shoulders and upper chest. My traps now have more of a dip down into my medial deltoids. There's also a visible decrease in the fat around my obliques (my love handles). And my boy bubble in the back is starting to disappear. I can tell because my ass is usually what holds my pants up, and it's not doing such a great job now. The upside is that I can now fit into certain dress pants without looking like I have a ham shoved in the back of my pants. Yeah, I have fat pants and skinny pants.
I've yet to start cardio, and unless things start to stagnate, I shouldn't have to worry about that for another two weeks.
